Snow in the forecast, are you kidding me?

Now that we are all getting our railroads ready to run for the Spring, we are forecast to get snow tomorrow and Friday. Are you kidding me? Only in Kansas!

Meeting tomorrow evening! 7:00 p.m.

Hey everyone! Our meeting is tomorrow evening at Fred and Millies. Steve and I won't make it as we are in Denver right now but hope to hear all about it. Have a great time!

Are you running yet?

Wow! Isn't this weather great? It got up to 80 today and may have set a new record high. Steve came home over his lunch hour, ate a flatbread sandwich and went out to the garden. He has been trimming down the perennials and we are starting to see little green sprouts coming up. "IT'S ALIVE!" We love this time of year. We are excited to see green anywhere we can see it. The sprinklers have been turned on and is watering the lawn. It's also starting to turn. Everything is coming back to life. I asked Steve if he was going to run something this weekend before I remembered we are heading to Denver on Friday. "Next weekend!" We have some new neighbors moving in across the street with two young kids. Drew is 5, and can't wait to see the trains. Sure, we all do this for our own reasons, but this is why I have gone along with it all these years. I love to see the smiles on the faces of these kids. I know some of you will look at that as secondary, but, I have to stick with that. Hopefully all of you are get out there and getting things going again. Send us pics if you have some.

Garden Railway Workshop a Success!

Many, many, Thanks to Claudia and Garden Railway Gizmos for hosting the hopefully, 1st annual, "Garden Railway Workshop". Over 50 people from the Wichita area and beyond came out for the all day workshop with presentations on everything from "Getting Started in Garden Railroading", "Trestle Building and Balasting", "Building tunnels", "RCS controls", and "Powering your Railroad", "Plants and trees for your railroad". Special Guest Mark Horovitz from Garden Railway Magazine came from Denver to present and attend. There were many new folks from the area who have been thinking about starting a railroad, and hopefully we will see many of these new faces back at some of our meetings and events.

SPECIAL EVENT NEXT WEEKEND: The Wichita Flower and Garden Show at Century II. This is always spectacular. Hopefully, we'll see some members there.

Big Event at Claudia's tomorrow.

Hey everyone. Claudia is hosting an event tomorrow with information seminars from Wagrs members Jim S., and Steve S., as well as from Mark Horowitz of Garden Railways magazine. The fun starts at 9:00 a.m.

Debut of the M&M Railroad at Wichita Show

Manfred and Millie debuted their new portable layout with trestle at the Wichita Train show two weeks ago. It was a very popular layout and many of the WAGRS member got to run some of the RCS powered trains. Thanks Manfred and Millie for all your hard work on this layout. We hope we see it up again at future shows, including maybe the Heart of America show this summer.

The next big WAGRS event will be at Claudia's on the 28th when Mark Horowitz from Garden Railways magazine will be speaking and Jim C. and Steve S. will also be making presentations. We hope to see everyone there.

It seems the weather is turning cold again. We were just teased a little last weekend with weather warm enough for us to put the top down on the convertible and think spring just might be coming. Everyone should be getting ready to clean up their layouts and get ready for Spring and Summer. If you think about it, take some pics and let me know what you do to get ready for Spring and Summer. I'll do a post highlighting your thoughts, ideas, and suggestions.
